A day at Parliament: an unforgettable journey

On 4th February, a group of our pupils travelled to London for an unforgettable visit to Parliament, supported by Mr Dowds, Mrs Brown, Mrs Cherubini, Mr Shewan and Ms Jones. From start to finish, pupils showed maturity, respect, and outstanding behaviour throughout the journey.
The day began with an early train from school and a busy itinerary. Pupils explored the capital, passing iconic landmarks including the British Library, Trafalgar Square, and Big Ben, taking in the history and atmosphere of London.
At the Palace of Westminster, the group enjoyed a guided tour, learning about the building’s fascinating past and admiring its stunning architecture. A real highlight was observing live debates in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, providing pupils with a rare and powerful insight into how government works in practice.
After a long but exciting day, the group returned safely to West Kirby at 22:07, tired, proud, and full of stories to share.
Trips like this demonstrate what our young people are capable of achieving. School is not only a place to learn, it is also a space that helps pupils explore, question, and understand the world around them.
As our Headteacher, Mr Hicks, reflected:
“School is a safe place for our children. When they are out of school, staff become that safe place, helping them reduce anxiety and feel confident to experience the world.”
We are incredibly proud of every pupil who took part in this memorable experience.
