West Kirby School & College shortlisted for NASS Outstanding Impact Award

We are incredibly proud to share that West Kirby School & College was shortlisted for the NASS (National Association of Independent and Non-Maintained Special Schools) Outstanding Impact Award.

We are incredibly proud to share that West Kirby School & College was shortlisted for the NASS (National Association of Independent and Non-Maintained Special Schools) Outstanding Impact Award.

This national recognition celebrates the inspirational work of our Pastoral Care Team, whose dedication supports every aspect of our pupils’ wellbeing and personal development. From leading projects such as Friday Wellbeing, Antibullying week, and Mental Health Week, to coordinating Inclusion initiatives, the team ensures every young person feels safe, supported, and valued.

Being shortlisted highlights how the support our team provides enables the transformational journeys our pupils take, overcoming challenges, developing confidence and independence, and celebrating achievements both in and beyond the classroom.

“I am delighted that our Pastoral Care Team has been nominated for a NASS Award. What makes our team truly exceptional is how they lead from the middle — they don’t just support, they empower. They create leaders among our pupils and ensure our Pupil Ambassador programme continues to shine. Through their proactive approach, they help shape school policies and consistently demonstrate the highest levels of capability and personal conduct.” — Mr Richard Hicks, Headteacher

One pupil shared:

“The pastoral team always listens and helps you believe in yourself. They make school feel like a safe space.”

We couldn’t be prouder of our pupils and staff for their continued commitment to kindness, inclusion, and positive change.
